MOVING ON: Read here
IRONMAN NEW YORK: My world comes crashing down. Read here
HOT IN THE MID WEST: A successful week of racing: 1st Decatur Memorial Triathlon, 1st Evergreen Triathlon, 3rd Ironman 70.3 Racine!
A TRUE TALE OF SURVIVAL: I can’t even come close in finding words to describe how crazy a place Sri Lanka is. As Bry very accurately put it “the most beautiful sh#$ hole on the planet”. The people, lovely and very accommodating. The countryside, gorgeous. The standard of living, very poor for most. The traffic, organised chaos, perhaps. Take this, bring an alien sport to the country’s capital city, and just begin to imagine the result.
RETURN TO TRAINING: It’s now 8 weeks post surgery and I’m slowly returning to full training. After spending the first 2 years of my career dialing in my race nutrition it appears I’m back to square one, with a new digestive system that doesn’t always like playing the game when I turn up the heat!
For the many that have asked, yes you can live a normal healthy life without a gallbladder. The question that I keep asking my doctors is can I continue to compete at an elite level, amongst the best in the world, without a gallbladder? I am assured that yes, I can and will continue to compete successfully, more than likely even more successfully then before with my infected, poorly functioning gallbladder. Read more...
SURGERY: No athlete likes going under the knife, despite this my gallbladder wasn’t playing the game and so got the flick. 2 weeks post surgery I’m feeling good and can’t wait to get back into training real soon to prepare for my 2012 season. Challenge Wanaka is first on the cards, it’ll be a very limited preparation, but I love a challenge, so bring it on!!
ANOTHER VICTORY: IRONMAN 70.3 CANCUN - 18 Sept 2011
Less than 2 months after my first victory on the Ironman 70.3 circuit I added another title to my resume in Mexico on Sunday. A tough race only a week after world champs in Vegas, raced in hot, windy conditions, I was ecstatic to race to victory in front of an energetic Mexican crowd!
TOP TEN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FINISH!! - 11 Sept 2011
In my first world championship I finished 9th professional female in Las Vegas yesterday. After a disappointing swim my strong bike took me up into 5th position going into the run, and at one stage 4th place. Unfortunately my running legs weren’t with me in Las Vegas this weekend and I dropped back into 9th position for a top ten finish overall.
